A Developer works with code to create websites, applications, and other computer programs. They can repair or debug existing software, or write new software. The role is highly technical and Developers must be proficient in different programming languages and have a background in computer science. They may specialise in different fields, such as front-end, back-end or full-stack.

How to become a Developer
Web development is a highly technical field and requires proficiency and experience in programming languages. Most companies require Developers to have had formal education in their field, and may ask for a portfolio of previous projects.
- Decide on your area of interest. Consider the programming language and the niche you want to specialise in. You can build your knowledge in a specific field, or learn a broad range of skills that allows you to be a generalist in your developer career.
- Obtain a bachelor degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, or information technology. This will provide you with both theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Get an internship. Developing is a problem-solving job, and it is invaluable to have real-world experience troubleshooting software to supplement your studies.
- Consider continuing education. Software and programming languages are constantly changing, and it’s important to stay up-to-date with new developments, technologies, and methods in order to stay relevant in the industry.
