A Financial Manager could be a controller, treasurer, credit manager, cash manager, risk management specialist, or insurance manager.

- Preparing financial statements, business activity reports, and forecasts.
- Keeping track of financial details to ensure that all legal requisites are accomplished.
- Overseeing employees who do financial reporting and budgeting.
- Reviewing company financial reports and seeking ways to reduce costs.
- Analysing market trends to find opportunities for expansion.
How to become a Finance Manager
To become a Finance Manager, you typically need to complete a relevant degree. This will provide you with skills in reporting, managing, advising, analysing, and research.
- Complete a bachelor degree in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration.
- Consider completing a masters degree, preferably in business administration, finance or economics. This usually takes two years to finish. Many employers seek candidates with a master's degree.
- Gain extensive work experience related to business or finance. Financial Managers often have many years of experience as a Loan Officer, an Accountant, an Auditor, or a Financial Analyst.
- Take a professional certification such as Chartered Financial Analyst or Certified Public Accountant. These certifications will help you in your finance career. These certifications often require at least a year to prepare for and pass related examinations.
