Morobe Mining Joint Ventures (MMJV) is a partnership between Harmony Gold and Newcrest Mining to explore and develop mines in the Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea (PNG). The MMJV consists of the Hidden Valley Joint Venture, which operates the Hidden Valley Mine, the Morobe Exploration Joint venture, which operates the exploration activities in the Morobe Province and the Wafi-Golpu Joint Venture, which operates the Wafi-Golpu project. The Wafi-Golpu Project is currently conducting a prefeasibility study and has also commenced early exploration access activities. It is envisaged that the pre-feasibility study will be completed towards the middle of 2012. Subject to a successful feasibility study, it is expected that Golpu will be mined using a block cave bulk underground mining method with an indicative processing plant capacity of 20-30Mtpa.
