A Taxation Accountant's role involves expertly handling tax-related matters for individuals, businesses and organisations. Their responsibilities range from preparing annual tax returns and corporate tax computations to providing advice on tax efficiency and planning. Taxation Accountants also ensure their clients comply with all legal requirements and keep updated on the latest tax laws and regulations. This role often requires working in accounting firms, large corporate settings, or even freelance and serving individual clients. As experts in their field, Taxation Accountants must continuously stay informed on changes in the tax system to provide accurate and up to date advice.
Tasks and duties
- Preparing business income tax returns and individual statements.
- Maintaining knowledge of tax code changes, accounting procedures and theory to properly evaluate financial information.
- Making recommendations regarding the handling of tax deductions and allowances.
- Completing forms and documents for tax liabilities, using knowledge of regulations and policies.
- Offering taxation advice to businesses and individuals in order to minimise tax liability.
- Conducting annual audits for accurate tax reporting and resolving discrepancies.
- Performing other financial audits in addition to taxes, such as evaluating an organisation's financial statements and operations.
