Laboratory Manager (Tissue Culture)
Sarawak (Malaysia)


  • To manage Tissue Culture Laboratory's operations and personnel.
  • To ensure that plant cultures are mass propagated on a commercial basis according to set Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • To develop tissue culture protocols for the optimal mass propagation specific plant species and/or clones.
  • To develop new tissue cultures for commercial production purposes.
  • To develop method to reduce production cost of tissue culture plantlets.
  • To develop SOPs and protocols for difficult to root clones.
  • To develop a robust ex-vitro hardening methods for plant tissue plantlets.
  • To develop an efficient ex-vitro rooting protocol and maintenance of micro-cuttings from tissue culture produced plantlets.
  • To collate, keep and conduct analysis of detailed and accurate data of all research laboratory operations.
  • To manage research and seek opportunities for technology and techniques transfer & collaboration with tertiary institutions and other organisations.


  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in BioTechnology/Agriculture/Forestry with specialisation in Tissue Culture or equivalent.
  • Having extensive working experience in biotechnological and microbiological techniques or the related field.
  • Having good time management, people management and communication skills.
  • Having knowledge and experience in conducting and carrying out research and development of tissue culture protocols.
  • Having knowledge of plant breeding or tree improvement techniques.
