Responsibilities:

Subbing copy to remove spelling mistakes and grammatical errors;
Writing headlines that capture the essence of the story or are clever or amusing;
Writing stand-firsts (brief introductions which sum up the story, underneath the headline);
Checking facts and stories to ensure they are accurate and not libellous;
Cropping photos and deciding where to use them for best effect;
Writing picture captions;
Proofreading completed pages;
Working to a page plan, i.e. playing a part in page design;
Manipulating on-screen copy using InDesign; and
Adding last-minute news stories.

Requirements:

Candidate must possess at least a Higher Secondary/STPM/"A" Level/Pre-U, Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Journalism or equivalent.
Required language(s): Bahasa Malaysia, English
Good news sense and good command of English a must.
Newspaper or magazine an advantage.
At least 5 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
Should have excellent people skills, be able to work under pressure independently with minimum supervision and be a good team player.
Preferably Senior/Junior Executives specializing in Journalist/Editor or equivalent.
