What Is AI?

AI, or artificial intelligence, is a branch of computer science that focuses on creating intelligent machines that can perform tasks that typically require human-level intelligence, such as understanding natural language, recognising objects, and making decisions. AI encompasses a wide range of techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, among others.

Now that AIs have hit the mainstream, AI software such as ChatGPT is influencing the way people interact with technology. Created by OpenAI, ChatGPT can engage in human-like conversations with users. The programme uses deep learning algorithms to understand natural language and generate responses that are appropriate to the input from an account user.

However, there are still several negative issues associated with using ChatGPT, including:

  1. Biases: ChatGPT — as with any AI technology — can exhibit biases that reflect the biases in the data it was trained on. This can lead to unfair or discriminatory treatment of certain groups.
  2. Misinformation: ChatGPT can generate responses based on incomplete or inaccurate information, leading to the spread of misinformation or false beliefs. In fact, ChatGPT warns users that it has limited knowledge of world events after 2021.
  3. Privacy: Conversations with ChatGPT may involve sharing personal information that users may not want to be stored or shared with others.
  4. Dependence: Some people may become overly reliant on ChatGPT or other similar technologies for social interaction, potentially leading to isolation and other negative outcomes.

However, the role of social media managers may evolve as social media platforms and technologies continue to develop.

5. Librarian

The rise of digital technology and the internet has led to a shift in the way people access and consume information. The role of travel agents has been impacted by the rise of the internet and the availability of online travel booking tools. Many people now prefer to use online travel booking websites and apps to research and book travel arrangements, rather than relying on travel agents.

Online booking tools provide travellers with a range of options for flights, hotels, and activities, and allow them to compare prices and make bookings quickly and easily. This has made it possible for travellers to plan their own trips without the need for a travel agent.

In addition, many airlines, hotels, and other travel providers now offer their own online booking tools and special deals, making it easier for travellers to book directly with these providers.

8. Call Centre Agents

From ordering food to making product complaints, automated customer service seems to be a very routine thing now. As this is becoming an everyday basic, modern customer service is moving into the more advanced phase of automated faces, also known as Chatbots.

A company by the name of Soul Machines is working on creating digital very human-like faces for live customer service agents. These automated Customer service agents have the ability to gauge a customer’s expression and respond respectively. A customer service agent ‘Nadia’, voiced by the actress Cate Blanchett, has already been created for the Australian government, while ‘Rachel’ a banking CS agent is near completion. With such promising advancements in this field, the extinction of this job category is quite visible.

9. Postal Worker

The number of postal workers has significantly decreased in recent years due to several factors. One of the primary reasons is the shift towards digital communication and online shopping. More and more people are choosing to communicate electronically, which has led to a decline in the volume of physical mail. This has reduced the need for postal workers to sort and deliver mail.

In addition, the rise of electronic payment systems and online shopping has reduced the need for physical mail services, such as bill payments and package deliveries. More people are choosing to pay their bills and purchase goods online, which has reduced the need for postal workers to handle these tasks.

10. Taxi Drivers

Ride-sharing services have made it easier and more convenient for people to get a ride on demand without the need to hail a taxi on the street or call a taxi company in advance.
