JobStreet.com launches Retrenchment Helpline Service
KUALA LUMPUR, 23 January 2009

JobStreet.com has launched the JobStreet.com Retrenchment Helpline which is aimed at lending a helping hand to those who might be feeling the effects of the recent retrenchments brought about by a global economic slowdown.

This initiative is born from JobStreet.com's observations on the market situation in Malaysia and around this region. JobStreet.com has been actively monitoring the current recruitment industry and based on the JobStreet.com Job Outlook 2009 Report, we have decided to set up the Retrenchment Helpline as a pre-emptive measure aimed at protecting Malaysian job seekers.

The JobStreet Retrenchment Helpline is free of charge as we want to make the service available to as many people as possible. All they need to do is register online, update their resume in JobStreet.com and the JobStreet.com team of career professionals will categorize them accordingly. By applying through this Helpline, job seekers will allow JobStreet.com to send their resumes to our large pool of clients. JobStreet.com's team of consultants may even be calling job seekers for further details if required.

In line with providing solutions to Malaysian job seekers in times of economic slowdown, JobStreet.com will also organize more of our Resume & Career Clinics. This is an initiative which helps job seekers write better resumes, gain better understanding of the job market and sharpen their job hunting skills, thereby increasing their employability rate in the market.

JobStreet.com will also run more Resume & Career Clinic tours in campuses and also on-site in companies. JobStreet.com had already run several clinics both in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. Most recently, it conducted its Resume Clinic in the JobStreet.com Malaysia Career & Training Fair (MCTF) 2009 in which more than 1,400 jobseekers benefited from speaking to the JobStreet team of consultants.

JobStreet.com will continue to conduct market surveys and maintain a close working relationship with the government and HR industry to provide insights into the job market situation and provide effective recruitment solutions to employers and job seekers in Malaysia and the countries it operates in.

Job seekers can also look forward to more career fairs, career makeover seminars, Resume & Career Clinics from JobStreet.com, all designed to provide job seekers and recruiters with comprehensive and efficient recruitment solutions in this tight labour market.
